Overwater House, Lochbay, Waternish, Isle of Skye.

FOR COUPLES LOOKING FOR SOMETHING A WEE DASH OUT OF THE ORDINARY! OLD ROMANTICS, HONEY-MOONERS & EVERYONE IN BETWEEN : Very spacious, quirky, accommodation combined with unforgettable views.

Detached, cliff top house with majestic views across the islands of Lochbay to the Outer Hebrides beyond. As you will see from the photographs, the sunsets are extraordinary. There is no road between the house and the sea, so you will see no cars while enjoying those amazing views. This large, quirky house, all on one level, is at the head of the magical, Waternish peninsula, one of the quieter areas of the island. The huge, full height windows all face the sea, looking down on the white washed cottages of Stein with its fantastic boat trips, oldest Inn on Skye and the Michelin starred, Lochbay Restaurant.

FOODIE ALERT - We have the most wonderful restaurants in this part of the island.

Overwater House
Overwater House

This is not the usual neutral holiday home, it is our forever home, full of local art, plants and cherished artefacts. Although very light & spacious, the cosy log burning stove and modern conveniences makes this an all year round house. A vast, feather filled settee encourages visitors to relax, unwind and enjoy the ever changing views. Because of the size of the accommodation, Overwater is perfect for a couple who might occasionally choose to do very different things. Watching the sport on the tv, for example, and even cheering loudly will not disturb, your other half who might be taking a bath or reading on the bed. You will not feel on top of each other as is the case in a smaller holiday unit. We’ve tried to combine practicality with luxury so that you feel immediately comfortable in our clean, fresh holiday home.

Directly opposite the house is a headland of wilderness. We often see golden & sea eagles hovering in the skies overhead. From some windows of the house no other houses are visible. The locals tell us we have the best view on Waternish. It’s the changing light on the water, especially during the fabulous sunsets, that is the real start of the show.

The house has its own drive for parking. All logs, electricity & wi-Fi are included in the price.

Due to the proximity of sheep and out of respect for our local crofter, we regret we do not accommodate dogs.

We regret, too, that babies and children are not allowed.
